Cyclone
A
'Cyclone' is sweeping into the UK from the direction of Chesterfield!.
Well actually the 'Cyclone' is the latest design from Richard Naylor
of Ajay Models, in Chesterfiled, Derbyshire.
Due
for imminent release, the Cyclone is a sports rendition of the type
of limited production aeroplanes seen on the air racing circuits
of 1930's USA.
This
very complete kit has a wingspan of 79" and is suitable for
a wide range of engines, from .75 to 1.20 two strokes and .80 to
1.50 four strokes. In fact the prototype has been flying very successfully
on a Laser 100.
The
kit is of built up construction with fully cut balsa ribs forming
a modified Clark Y section. Many other parts are supplied ready
cut. The top decking, front and rear fuselage, are shaped from veneered
cut foam. The kit also includes fibreglass moulded cowling, wheel
spats and a comprehensive hardware pack, including all hinges, horns,
fuel tank, screws, nuts & bolts etc. It even comes with a pilot,
which is a nice touch. I really don't like to see pilotless aircraft!
All you need to finish the model is glue and covering material.
Richard
has report to us that the model flew pretty well straight off the
building board, requiring only the smallest of trim modifications.
The prototype has now clocked up many flying hours and is reported
to be a stable flyer, yet fully aerobatic, with no vices.
The
kit comes with a 9 page manual and a full size plan. Many items
are also available as separate accessories should you need them.
