Scale Fly- In at Llandow, South Wales

Please Note. The organisers of this event have informed us that it is unlikely that the farmer will have harvested his crops of maize that currently border both sides of runway at Llandow.
However, the event WILL still be taking place as detailed below.
Contact organisers for more details.

Last Year's Fly-In. South Wales Radio Control Society are once again holding their annual Open Scale Fly In at their Llandow flying site in the Vale of Glamorgan, on Sunday 2nd September.

The event will be run on the same lines as last year, with proceedings starting at 10am. Flying will be 'Off the Peg' with flyers paying a small entrance fee. Proof of insurance will be required. Any full scale to semi-scale (ish) models will be welcome and at the end of the day fellow competitors will judge the best aircraft of the day.

Last year's event was a huge success and had great coverage in the BMFA News (Issue 44 February 2001). The report can still be seen on the South Wales Radio Control Society web site at www.swrcs.freeserve.co.uk/scaleday.htm

Last Year's Fly-In. The SWRCS bought their own flying site some years ago. The runway is tarmac covered concrete, 400 yard long and over 30 yards wide and once formed one of the major runways of the former RAF base.

If you want to make a weekend of it and visit some of the beautiful coastline and towns of the Vale of Glamorgan, a touring caravan park is situated no more than 400 yards from the gate of the SWRCS runway. The Llandow Touring Caravan Park would make an ideal base. See details below.

You could also visit the two day Welsh Model & Craft Show at the Ogmore Centre Trust, Ogmore-By-Sea, which is being held on the same weekend (1st & 2nd September). There will be both indoor and out door displays and model trade stands. The show ground is no more than a few miles from Llandow Adults £3.00. Family £9.00. Contact: DW Models in Bridgend on: 01656 665435.

So why not make a weekend of it, flying at one of the best r/c flying sites in the UK and enjoy the company of fellow scale modellers at this friendly fly in!
