New Helicopter Mag Due For Imminent Arrival

A new helicopter magazine is due for imminent arrival here in the UK. John Clark is probaly better known to you as the Assistant Editor of RCM&E. But now he has decided to go it alone with the launch of Rotorworld and his own publishing company Zest Publishing Ltd.

After the success of the 'one off' Rotor Sport last summer John felt that the time was right for an all new Helcopter magazine. As Nexus (publishers of RCM&E) were unable to commit to Rotor Sport, John took the plunge to give it a go himself with Rotorworld!

Rotorworld MagazineThe Magazine
Rotorworld will be published as a 76-page, A4 bi-monthly magazine. It will have full colour throughout, and printed on high quality paper. Rotorworld will contain many features relating to every aspects of model helicopters, from newcomers to heli flying right up to 3D flying.

In issue one we are promised reviews of the Venture 50, and the electric Hummingbird from Century. For scale fans, there will be a nostalgic look back at the Kavan Jet Ranger, a wonderfully preserved version owned by Ken Gale. Ken wrote in the original Rotor Sport magazine and has been retained by John to produce articles for Rotorworld.

For those newcomers to the hobby there will be a beginner's series, designed to help all those with absolutely no prior knowledge. Rotorworld says that it is committed to helping them get going. For the more experienced flier, there's an aerobatic column, and scale junkies who like to get their detailing just right will enjoy the full-size photo features by Alex Whittaker - in issue one, we've some stunning shots of the Hughes 500.

Competition & Show Reports
Rotorworld vow only to cover the events you REALLY want to read about. In issue one, there will be all the best action from Sandown, and although time is tight, it is hoped that Mark Christy's report form the Aerobatic World Championships in Japan will also make it.

'Range in Focus' will be a new section with a new approach. In each issue, Rotorworld will be giving a UK distributor the chance to explain exactly why you should consider buying one of their helicopters. Question is, will you be convinced? This, John believes, is an especially radical idea.

'Buyer's Guide' can help you make up your mind - 30-size non-scale helis currently available in the UK are first to be featured.

Plus, there's a full and exclusive interview with Paul Heckles, news, tips from the experts, new products… lots and lots to read and enjoy.

The Editor
For those of you that have never met John around the shows or in his capacity as Assistant Editor of RCM&E here's some background. A graduate from the University of Kent, John Clark has also studied for an MPhil degree at the University of Cambridge, and is a qualified journalist. He joined RCM&E as Editorial Assistant in 1999, before gaining promotion to Assistant Editor in 2001; in 2002, John was also Assistant Editor of the one-off Rotorsport magazine. His last job for Nexus was the role of Sandown Show Guide Editor.
